What happens next…
If you’ve got questions about humanist weddings then please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’ll be happy to chat and there’s no obligation.
When you’re ready to take it to the next stage and start the planning process then we’ll arrange a mutually convenient meeting where I’ll ask you lots of questions (and answer them too) to build up a good picture of you both as a couple. It’ll be the basis for my writing your wedding.
If you like me, then we’ll agree the date for the wedding and I’ll ask for a deposit
After a few weeks, you’ll get a first draft of your personalised wedding script from me and we can then fine tune it to your exact requirements.
What it costs and what that includes…
My basic fee for a wedding is £500.
Any additional expenses (fuel, accommodation where necessary, etc) will be agreed in advance; so no surprises.
The basic fee includes: an initial face to face meeting; script writing; a wedding rehearsal and the celebration of the wedding itself. You’ll also get a commemorative copy of the script to keep forever.
There is a lot of work involved in writing a wedding so I do require a £150 deposit (non refundable) at the time of booking. The balance is to be paid no later than a month before the wedding itself.
Things to be aware of…
I am a “humanist” celebrant, accredited by Humanists UK. Because of this, I wont include anything in my ceremonies that constitutes ‘worship’. If you want hymns or prayers (or anything like that) then, I’m sorry, but I’m not the celebrant for you.
I’m part of a country wide network of Humanists UK celebrants all of whom are fully trained, accredited and regularly assessed. As such, you can rest easy in the knowledge that, should the worst happen to me, there’ll always be somebody else to step into the breach.
Humanist weddings in England are not, currently, legally recognised. Most of my clients want a wedding which is truly unique and special and complete the legal marriage in a register office at another time; that need only be a very small affair and there is a legal minimum register office ceremony that you can request. A few couples don’t feel the need for the legal marriage at all.
